Scent of Saffron
Shirin, an Iranian-Canadian pianist in her late twenties, reminisces about the first four seasons after she and her parents immigrated from Tehran to Toronto in 2010.
Binding pre-Revolutionary Persian music with wholesome vignettes, Scent of Saffron follows Shirin as she navigates childhood in Toronto — observing her parents' struggles to find work and hold their marriage together after migration, and her budding friendship with an elderly Armenian-Iranian antique shopkeeper.
